Roadtrip 2019 Fall: Vancouver - Richland - Twin Falls - Provo - Kanab - Yucca Valley - Paso Robles - Sacramento - Brookings - Yachats - Cannon Beach - Vancouver

Day 24 - Red Hollow

Today's run-in to Red Hollow involves lots of sand.  More than usual.

So there's Stove Pipe Wells, Organ Pipe Cactus, Pipe Springs, and now this trailside attraction is simply known as Broken Pipe.

Ellie senses the canyon slotting up.

Ella practises her stallion pose, as Russ looks on.

The last few trees at the gate to the slot.

Just over the course of the past week – leaves have pretty much fallen. And yes, sadly the Christmas jingles and email sale pitches are also falling fast and furious. Apparently 'tis already the season. We will do our best to ignore.

Ellie eyes possible exits.  There is only one.

Red Hollow has many more colours.

We got slotted out. This was end of the line due to impassable rock falls.

Suspension.

Just a crack of light.

Up the other fork, we find the terraces of the Lost City of the Grand Canyon, home to an advanced civilization that rivalled Atlantis.

Wendy does her very best Cindy Sherman impression, right under the collapsing alcove.

Bare branches almost fade into the rock patterns behind them.

Ella's been itching for a canyon run all afternoon. We grant her request.
